Dr. Conrad E. Mueller holds an MBA of the University of Rochester Bern and is a paediatric surgeon trained in Basel, Bern, Capetown, Marseille and Memphis. His focus is on change management and so he was building the paediatric surgical unit for the Tessin, the Italian part of Switzerland. As the first Director of Swisstransplant he was in charge of adapting Swisstransplant to the new transplant law, the development of the Swiss organ allocation system and the moving of the headquarter from Geneva to Bern. As CEO of the University Children’s Hospital of Basel he was responsible for the building of the new hospital and the unification of different locations and teams. He also created the organisation AllKids, representing all independent children hospitals in Switzerland. As a Director of the largest swiss private hospital “Clinic Hirslanden Zurich” and member of the operation board Hirslanden, he was involved in the transformation of this group of 17 hospitals into an integrated network. He likes to lead people to new challenges. In his current role he is working as a consultant for strategy development for hospitals and as a paediatric surgeon in private praxis. He is also leader of the civil medical teaching team as a colonel of the Swiss Army Medical school for young doctors. He has a strong passion for innovation. While he was CEO in the Children’s Hospital, he started a project of humanoid roboters going to school, remotely guided by the sick child staying in the hospital. Currently, he is developing software applications for children to motivate them to change their behaviour.
